Kim Noorda in Christian DIor Spring 2011 Couture
This little jackets neckline mimmicks the dior close enough
I've had this fabric laying about for some time. I'm ready to use it.
mini houndstooth (bright green an black checks)
I learned to sew in 2009. I was really into it and learned fast the first year but since then I have not improved much. I would like to change this and be able to make more wearable pieces. I have tons of patterns and fabric hoarded in boxes. The green houndstooth and McCall's 5479 pattern are just some of these unused items. I originally bought the houndstooth on clearance and planned to make a long swing coat but I think I'll start with this one first.
The Dior piece is perfect. I'm not trying to recreate such art. It serves merely as an inspiration for the color palette, silhouette, and styling. So mine will be very loosely based. I would like to create a similar feeling rather than a duplicate. I just like that they are both a bit retro. You will soon come to know that I am in love with vintage details.
Honestly I wish I could make the head to toe look but I lack the skill and occasion to wear it. My goal is merely to create a cute little cropped swing coat that does not look homemade.
